His Paris–Luxembourg winner’s jersey – 1963
Rudi Altig was one of the leading figures in German cycling in the 1960s. A powerful, fast and particularly versatile rider, he excelled on both the track and the road. World pursuit champion in 1959 and 1960, he went on to win prestigious road races, including the Vuelta a España in 1962, the Tour of Flanders in 1964 and Milan–San Remo in 1968. He also became world road champion in 1966, in front of his home crowd at the Nürburgring.
The jersey on display here is a Radio-Télé Luxembourg jersey associated with Rudi Altig’s victory in Paris–Luxembourg. Recognisable by its red and white colours and the inscription ‘RADIO-TÉLÉ LUXEMBOURG’, this jersey is a remarkable testament to professional cycling in the early 1960s. The item is all the more interesting as it bears inscriptions and Rudi Altig’s signature, which enhance its personal and historical significance.

His Ford France – Gitane jersey, worn in 1965.
Jacques Anquetil is one of the leading figures in the history of French cycling. An exceptional road racer and a remarkable time-trial specialist, he was the first rider to win five Tours de France, in 1957, 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964. His impressive list of achievements also includes two Giro d’Italia titles, one Vuelta a España and numerous major international victories. Nicknamed ‘Maître Jacques’, he left his mark on his era through his elegance on the bike, his tactical mastery and his exceptional skills as a road racer.
The jersey presented here is a Ford France – Gitane jersey worn by Jacques Anquetil in 1965. Recognisable by its light colours and the ‘FORD FRANCE’ and ‘GITANE’ lettering, it bears witness to one of the final great periods of the Norman champion’s career.
This item also has a particularly personal significance: it is preserved with a handwritten dedication from Jacques Anquetil addressed to Noël. It thus constitutes a precious memento combining a jersey worn by one of France’s greatest champions with a personal keepsake now held in the collection.
