His “KAS” team jersey worn in 1986
In 1986, during his second season as a professional, Joël Pelier joined the famous Spanish team KAS. The rider from Franche-Comté continued to learn the ropes at the very highest level and gradually demonstrated the qualities that would define his career: great stamina, an attacking style and remarkable determination.
That same year, he won the Grand Prix d’Aix-en-Provence, one of the major successes of his early professional career. He also took part in his second Tour de France, following his debut in 1985. Being part of the KAS squad allowed him to develop within an ambitious team, accustomed to competing in major international races.
The item on display is a long-sleeved jersey worn by Joël Pelier in the colours of the KAS team in 1986.

His “Alfa Lum–Olmo” team jersey, worn in 1983
A well-rounded and consistent rider, Giuseppe Petito belongs to that generation of Italian cyclists capable of excelling in both stage races and one-day events. Born on 25 February 1960 in Civitavecchia, in the Lazio region, he enjoyed a long professional career from 1981 to 1996.
His list of achievements includes, notably, a stage win in the 1983 Vuelta a España, the Trofeo Laigueglia in 1984 and the Giro di Campania in 1987. He also finished third in the Tirreno–Adriatico in 1986 and won a stage of the Coppi and Bartali International Week in 1991.
The 1983 season marked a significant milestone in his career. Riding for the Alfa Lum–Olmo team, Giuseppe Petito won the third stage of the Vuelta a España. This victory represented his greatest success in a Grand Tour and confirmed his qualities as a tenacious rider, capable of seizing opportunities on demanding routes.

Born on 1 February 1971 in Civitavecchia, in the Italian region of Lazio, Roberto Petito was a professional cyclist from 1993 to 2008. A strong all-rounder and classics specialist, he also proved to be a valuable team-mate, particularly in support of the great sprinters Mario Cipollini and Alessandro Petacchi.
The most significant victory of his career came in 1997, when he won the general classification of the Tirreno–Adriatico. His list of achievements also includes the 1994 Tour of Romagna, the 1997 Coppi and Bartali International Week, the 2001 Trofeo Pantalica and the 2006 Four Days of Dunkirk. He also achieved several notable placings in the major Northern classics.
