LAURITZEN Dag Otto (NOR)

His Norwegian national team jersey worn at the 1990 World Championships
Born on 12 September 1956 in Grimstad, Dag Otto Lauritzen is one of the pioneers of Norwegian professional cycling. A bronze medallist in the road race at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, in 1987 he became the first Norwegian to win a stage of the Tour de France, at Luz-Ardiden.
His list of achievements also includes the 1987 Frankfurt Grand Prix, the 1989 Tour de Trump, third place in the 1989 Tour of Flanders and a stage win in the 1993 Vuelta a España. A professional until 1994, he competed in the Tour de France eight times. Dag Otto Lauritzen’s career coincided with Norway’s gradual emergence on the international professional cycling scene. After retiring, Lauritzen became a popular figure on Norwegian television and continued his commitment to promoting sport and cycling.
This item is a Norwegian national team jersey worn by Dag Otto Lauritzen at the 1990 Road World Championships, held in Utsunomiya, Japan.
The professional race at the World Championships took place on 2 September 1990 in Utsunomiya, over a 261-kilometre course made particularly challenging by the heat and humidity. Dag Otto Lauritzen adopted a very attacking style. In the final laps, he attacked on the main climb of the circuit, caught up with the front of the race and then built up a lead of a few seconds on his own. However, a collision with the Belgian Dirk De Wolf caused his chain to jump off, bringing his attack to an end. Lauritzen was eventually caught and finished 39th, 45 seconds behind the winner, Rudy Dhaenens.

LEALI Bruno (I) (06.03.1958)
His Italian road cycling champion’s jersey, worn in Carrera colours in 1987
Born on 6 March 1958 in Roè Volciano, Lombardy, Bruno Leali was an Italian professional cyclist from 1979 to 1994. A reliable team rider and specialist in Italian races, he won a stage of the 1984 Giro d’Italia, the 1985 Giro del Lazio and the 1987 Italian Road Championship.
That same season, he won the Baracchi Trophy alongside Massimo Ghirotto and finished ninth in Paris–Roubaix. He went on to win the general classification of the Coppi and Bartali International Week in 1989. During his long career, he competed in fourteen Giro d’Italia and six Tour de France races.
This item is a long-sleeved Italian champion’s jersey worn by Bruno Leali whilst riding for the Carrera team following his national title in 1987.
A handwritten dedication by Bruno Leali appears on the white section of the chest. It lends the item a personal provenance and reinforces its documentary value.
In 1987, the Italian professional road title was awarded at the Coppa Agostoni, a major Lombard classic held around Lissone. Held on 28 June over 274 kilometres, the race featured ten laps of the undulating Lissolo circuit. Bruno Leali won after 6 hours 53 minutes 30 seconds of racing. He finished 1 minute 12 seconds ahead of Alberto Elli and Emanuele Bombini, securing one of the most significant victories of his career.

LEJARRETA Marino (E)

His "ONCE" team jersey worn in 1991
Born on 14 May 1957 in Berriz, in the Spanish Basque Country, Marino Lejarreta Arrizabalaga, nicknamed ‘the Reed of Berriz’, was one of the most consistent Grand Tour riders of his generation.
A professional from 1979 to 1992, he won the 1982 Vuelta a España, three San Sebastián Classics and two Voltas a Catalunya. He also won stages in each of the three Grand Tours and finished in the top ten of their general classifications on fifteen occasions.
This jersey from the Spanish professional team ONCE was worn by Marino Lejarreta during the 1991 season.
Founded in 1989 and managed by Manolo Saiz, the ONCE team quickly made a name for itself through its methodical organisation, meticulous attention to equipment and an instantly recognisable visual identity.
This jersey brings together a winner of the Vuelta a España, one of the most influential Spanish teams of the 1990s, and an exceptional season across the three Grand Tours.
