Born on 17 June 1959 in Bergen op Zoom, in the Netherlands, Adrie van der Poel is a former Dutch cyclist whose long career spanned both road racing and cyclo-cross. Turning professional in 1981, he stood out for his fighting spirit, versatility and effectiveness in the classics.
On the road, Adrie van der Poel built up a particularly impressive list of victories. Notably, he won the Zurich Championship in 1982, the Brabantse Pijl and the San Sebastián Classic in 1985, the Tour of Flanders in 1986, Liège–Bastogne–Liège in 1988 and the Amstel Gold Race in 1990.
He also achieved several notable results in the biggest races on the calendar. In 1984, he won two stages of the Tour de France and wore the yellow jersey for one day. He also won a stage of Paris–Nice, a stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré and the points classification at the Tour of the Netherlands.
In 1987, riding for the PDM–Ultima–Concorde team, Adrie van der Poel became Dutch road champion. The item on display is a Dutch champion’s jersey worn by Adrie van der Poel during the 1987 season.
Alongside his road racing career, Van der Poel established himself as one of the finest cyclo-cross specialists. A multiple Dutch champion, he became world champion in the discipline in 1996 in Montreuil, France. This world title crowned a remarkable sporting career.
Adrie van der Poel comes from a distinguished family of cyclists. He is the son-in-law of Raymond Poulidor and the father of Mathieu van der Poel, a world road champion and multiple world cyclo-cross champion. His career thus forms a link between several key generations in the history of cycling.

Born on 17 June 1959 in Bergen op Zoom, Adrie van der Poel is a Dutch cyclist who excelled in both road racing and cyclo-cross. Turning professional in 1981, he quickly became one of the most consistent and attacking specialists in the European classics.
Fast in small-group finishes and resilient on demanding courses, he secured numerous podium finishes from his very first seasons. In 1983, he finished runner-up in the World Road Championships behind Greg LeMond and also came second in the Tour of Flanders. The following year, he won a stage of the Tour de France and wore the yellow jersey for a day.
The 1985 season confirmed his place amongst the international elite. Riding for the Kwantum–Decosol–Yoko team, Adrie van der Poel won the Brabantse Pijl and the Clásica de San Sebastián. He also won the Dutch cyclo-cross championship, already demonstrating his ability to excel in both disciplines.
That same year, he took part in the Tour of Ireland, a race contested on demanding roads often exposed to the elements. Thanks to his consistency across the various stages and his burst of speed, he won the race’s points classification.
The item on display is the green jersey awarded to Adrie van der Poel as the winner of this points classification. This jersey commemorates a significant season in the Dutch rider’s career, a few months before his victory in the 1986 Tour of Flanders. Van der Poel went on to win the Dutch Road Championship in 1987, Liège–Bastogne–Liège in 1988 and the Amstel Gold Race in 1990.

VAN EETVELT Lennert (B)

Born on 17 July 2001 in Beringen, in the Belgian province of Limburg, Lennert Van Eetvelt is a Belgian cyclist who specialises in climbs and stage races. His climbing ability, attacking style and capacity to accelerate on tough finishes quickly established him as one of the leading prospects in Belgian cycling.
In the junior ranks, he achieved several notable results on mountainous routes. In particular, he won the 2022 Course de la Paix for juniors and distinguished himself in the Giro d’Italia for juniors as well as in the Tour de l’Avenir.
Lennert Van Eetvelt turned professional in 2023 with the Lotto Dstny team.
The year 2024 marked a decisive milestone in his development. He won a stage at the summit of Jebel Hafeet and claimed the general classification of the UAE Tour. At the end of the season, he also won two stages and the general classification of the Tour of Guangxi in China.
In 2025, the young Belgian made his Tour de France debut riding for Lotto. He set off with the ambition of testing himself against the best climbers and gaining his first experience in the most prestigious stage race on the calendar.
The third stage, held on 7 July between Valenciennes and Dunkirk, featured a route that largely favoured sprinters. Marked by a nervous peloton and several crashes, it was won by Tim Merlier. Lennert Van Eetvelt crossed the finish line in 146th place.
