His 1997 Vuelta a España King of the Mountains jersey
Born on 6 February 1971 in El Barraco, in the province of Ávila, José María Jiménez Sastre, nicknamed ‘El Chava’, remains one of the most popular Spanish climbers of his generation. His attacking style, sudden bursts of speed and penchant for the steepest climbs made him a spectacular rider. A professional from 1993 to 2002, he spent his entire career riding for Banesto, alongside champions such as Pedro Delgado, Miguel Induráin and Abraham Olano.
This item is a Banesto racing jersey associated with José María Jiménez’s victory in the King of the Mountains classification at the 1997 Vuelta a España.
The 52nd edition of the Vuelta a España took place from 6 to 28 September 1997, covering 22 stages and nearly 3,800 kilometres. Jiménez finished the King of the Mountains classification with 153 points, well ahead of Alex Zülle and Laurent Jalabert. This victory was the first of his four wins in this classification.
This jersey brings together one of the most charismatic climbers of the 1990s, a leading Spanish cycling team and the first of the four King of the Mountains titles won by José María Jiménez in the Vuelta.

His 2003 Luxembourg Road Championship jersey and his 2004 national time trial championship medal
Born on 14 January 1976 in Luxembourg, Benoît Joachim is one of the leading figures in Luxembourg cycling of the 2000s. Tall and powerful, he stood out for his ability as a road racer, his endurance and his capacity to work in support of his team leaders.
After several seasons with various European teams, he joined the American US Postal Service team in 1999. He remained there until 2004, before going on to ride for Discovery Channel, Astana and then the Differdange continental team.
An experienced team rider, Joachim competed in eleven Grand Tours: two Tours de France, three Giro d’Italia and six Vuelta a España. He won the Luxembourg Road Championship three times, in 2000, 2003 and 2007, as well as the national time trial championship in 2004 and 2006.
This is the Luxembourg road cycling champion’s jersey worn by Benoît Joachim during the 2003 season, whilst riding for the US Postal Service–Berry Floor team. A handwritten dedication by Benoît Joachim appears on the blue section of the jersey. This inscription lends it a personal provenance and enhances its documentary value.
This set comprises a national champion’s jersey, a time trial medal and a memento of a Luxembourgish rider who competed at the highest international level for over a decade.

His Luxembourg national champion’s jersey, worn in 2016
Born on 22 September 1992 in Rollingen, Luxembourg, Bob Jungels established himself very early on as one of his country’s greatest prospects. Tall, powerful and an excellent road rider, he has a versatile profile that enables him to excel in time trials, classics and stage races.
After winning the Junior World Time Trial Championship in 2010, followed by the U23 World Time Trial Championship in 2011, he turned professional in 2012. Following three seasons with RadioShack–Trek, he joined the Belgian team Etixx–Quick-Step in 2016.
Throughout his career, Jungels has won numerous Luxembourg national titles in both road racing and time trials. He also won Liège–Bastogne–Liège in 2018, Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne in 2019, as well as stages of the Giro d’Italia in 2017 and the Tour de France in 2022.
This item is a Luxembourg champion’s jersey worn by Bob Jungels during the 2016 season, whilst riding for the Etixx–Quick-Step team.
In 2015, Bob Jungels won both Luxembourg elite titles: the road race and the time trial. These victories entitled him to wear the national colours during the 2016 season. He went on to retain both titles in 2016. At the end of the 2016 season, he also contributed to Etixx–Quick-Step’s success in the World Team Time Trial Championships, held in Doha.
