PRIM Tommy (S)

His 1984 Tirreno–Adriatico winner’s jersey
Born on 29 July 1955 in Svenljunga, Tommy Prim was one of the finest Swedish cyclists of his generation. A particularly consistent all-rounder and climber, he spent his entire professional career, from 1980 to 1986, with the Italian teams Bianchi and then Sammontana–Bianchi.
In his very first professional season, he won a stage of the Giro d’Italia, finished fourth in the general classification and claimed the best young rider classification. He went on to confirm his abilities in the Grand Tours by finishing second in the Giro d’Italia in 1981, behind Giovanni Battaglin, and again in 1982, behind Bernard Hinault.
His list of victories also includes the 1981 Tour de Romandie, the 1982 and 1983 Tours of Sweden, and Paris–Brussels in 1983. This last victory made Tommy Prim one of the first Scandinavian cyclists to win a major international classic.
The item on display is the 1984 Tirreno–Adriatico winner’s jersey worn by Tommy Prim. The central photograph shows the rider crossing the finish line at the end of the race.
This jersey commemorates one of the most significant victories of Tommy Prim’s career. It bears witness to his mastery of stage races and his ability to defend an extremely narrow lead against some of the finest international riders of his era.

PUGLIESE Pasquale (I)

His "Inoxpran" team jersey worn in 1979
Born on 6 November 1952 in Prato, Tuscany, Pasquale Pugliese is a former Italian cyclist. After several seasons as an amateur, he turned professional in 1975 and continued his career until 1980.
A solid and dedicated team-mate, he first rode for Zonca–Santini, then for Selle Royal–Inoxpran and Inoxpran–Pentole Posate. He rode alongside Giovanni Battaglin, one of the best Italian riders of that era.
Pasquale Pugliese’s greatest professional success came in 1978, when he won a stage of the Tour of Asturias in Spain. During his career, he also competed in five Giro d’Italia races and took part in the 1979 Tour de France. This participation was one of the highlights of Pugliese’s career.
The item on display is a jersey worn by Pasquale Pugliese during the 1979 season.
The jersey bears a handwritten dedication from Pasquale Pugliese addressed to the Belgian Cycling Museum. The photograph shown on the left features a similar dedication and the rider’s signature. These inscriptions establish a personal link between the former professional and the item on display.
The recent photograph on the right shows Pasquale Pugliese still active on a bike several decades after the end of his professional career. It draws a parallel between the rider of yesteryear and the cycling enthusiast who has remained faithful to the sport.

REBELLIN Davide (I)

His 1999 Tour Méditerranéen winner’s jersey
Born on 9 August 1971 in San Bonifacio, in the Veneto region, Davide Rebellin is one of Italy’s finest specialists in hilly classics. A professional from 1992 to 2022, he stood out for his exceptional longevity, consistency and efficiency on short, tough climbs.
In 1997, he won the Clásica de San Sebastián and the Grand Prix de Suisse. He went on to win Tirreno–Adriatico in 2001 and Paris–Nice in 2008. His greatest achievement came in 2004, when he won the Amstel Gold Race, the Flèche Wallonne and Liège–Bastogne–Liège in quick succession, completing the prestigious Ardennes triple.
Davide Rebellin retired in 2022, after thirty years in the professional peloton. On 30 November of the same year, just a few weeks after his final race, he tragically lost his life when he was struck by a lorry whilst training in Montebello Vicentino.
The item on display is the yellow jersey awarded to the winner of the 1999 Tour Méditerranéen, worn by Davide Rebellin. The photograph on the left shows the jersey being presented in person to Noël Grégoire. It establishes a direct link between Davide Rebellin and the item on display.
