Gianni Bugno is one of the leading figures in Italian cycling of the 1990s. Turning professional in 1985, Gianni Bugno built up a remarkable list of achievements. Notably, he won the 1990 Giro d’Italia, which he dominated whilst wearing the pink jersey from start to finish. He also distinguished himself at the Tour de France, where he won several stages and finished on the podium in the general classification on two occasions.
His career was also marked by an exceptional double at the Road World Championships: crowned world champion in Stuttgart in 1991, he retained his title the following year in Benidorm in 1992. Added to these successes are prestigious victories in the classics, including the 1990 Milan–San Remo and the 1994 Tour of Flanders.
This jersey has a particularly interesting personal connection for the collection: according to the documentation accompanying the item, Gianni Bugno personally presented it to Noël Grégoire’s son in 1995. This direct provenance considerably enhances its historical and sentimental value.
